Privacy Policy

Seoulcomix Inc. (“we”) operates the Animal Farm app and website (the “Service”). The Service is designed to work without your name, email address or phone number, and we never store your exact location.

1. Information we collect

When you sign up: your animal’s name and look (dog/cat, breed, coat color), your gender (male/female — never shown to others; used so that chats connect a man and a woman), your birth year and month (to check the minimum age for your country or region and to keep matches within the same age group — never shown to others), app language, and a random login key for this device (stored only as a one-way hash).
Location: when the app sends your device location, our server uses it only at that moment to work out who is nearby and how far your bark reaches. We do not store your exact coordinates (they are kept briefly in server memory while you are connected). Instead we store a “public position” moved 150–350 m away from you (500–1,000 m for members under 18; the direction and distance change every day) and the time it was last updated.
While you use the Service: chat messages, records of who you barked together with (with whom, when, and the time gap), and blocks and reports.
If you link an Apple or Google account: only the account’s unique ID. We do not request or store your email or name.
What we do not collect: real name, email, phone number, full date of birth (we keep only the year and month), photos, contacts or advertising IDs. We use no analytics or ad tools and keep no server request logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may briefly count IP addresses to stop rapid repeated requests; we do not store them.

2. How we use it

To show your animal and nearby animals (within 2 km) on the map and deliver barks and ripples.
To open a 1:1 chat when two members bark within 0.5 seconds of each other, and deliver messages.
To review reports, prevent harassment, spam and fraud, and look at aggregate numbers to improve the Service.

3. What other members can see

Nearby members see your animal’s name and look, your public position (150–350 m away from where you really are; 500–1,000 m for members under 18) and when you were last there. Members under 18 and members 18 or older do not see each other. The member you matched with sees your chat messages. Nobody sees your gender, birth year and month, or exact location.

4. How long we keep it

Account and public position: deleted immediately when you use “Delete account”. Your public position is overwritten by each new update, and you disappear from the map after 7 days without a location update.
Chats: deleting your account immediately deletes your chats and messages. Chats closed by leaving or blocking are deleted after 30 days.
Match records: deleted when you delete your account, and otherwise after 1 year.
Reports: kept for 1 year to handle them and any disputes, then deleted.
Location-use records: each time the server receives your location, it records only whose location it was, how it was obtained (Apple, Google or browser), which feature used it and when — never the coordinates. Kept for 6 months as required by Korea’s Location Information Act, then deleted; deleted immediately when you delete your account.
Where the law requires longer retention, we keep the data for that period.

5. Sharing

We do not sell or share your personal information. If law enforcement makes a lawful request, we cooperate only within the data we keep (section 4).

6. Service providers

Cloudflare, Inc. runs our servers and database (account data, public positions, chats, real-time barks). Map images are loaded by your device directly from OpenFreeMap (openfreemap.org), which receives your device’s IP address and the map area you are viewing; we do not receive this information.

7. International transfers

Data is transferred over the network to Cloudflare, Inc. (privacyquestions@cloudflare.com) in the United States and other countries where it operates data centers, and — only when you link an account — to Apple Inc. or Google LLC to verify your login. It is used to run the Service and kept for the periods in section 4. If you do not want this, please do not use the Service or delete your account.

8. Age

The Service is for people who have reached the minimum age for their country or region (see the table in the Terms of Service; 13 where not listed). Members under 18 are matched only with other members under 18, and members 18 or older only with members 18 or older. If we learn that someone below the minimum age has signed up, or has given a false birth year to join a different age group, we delete the account. Please use “Report” in a chat if a member seems younger than allowed.

9. Your rights

You can change your animal’s name and look, and delete all your data with “Delete account”, at any time in the app.
You can turn off location access in your device settings at any time (the map and barking won’t work without it).
Because we hold no name or contact details, you manage your data directly in the app. For any other access, correction, deletion or objection request, email support@seoulcomix.com. Depending on where you live (for example the EU/UK or California), you may have additional rights, including the right to complain to your local data protection authority.

10. Security

All traffic is encrypted (HTTPS/WSS) and login keys are stored only as one-way hashes.
Exact locations are never stored; other members only see a shifted position.
We keep no server request logs, and only people who need it can access the servers.

12. Changes

We will post changes on this page at least 7 days before they take effect (30 days if they are unfavorable to you).

13. Language

This policy is provided in several languages. If a translation differs from this English version, the English version prevails, except that for users in Korea the Korean version prevails.
